Our Education Partners

Carlow Institute of Further Education and Training has strategic links with Institute of Technology, Carlow, Waterford Institute of Technology and Carlow College. The partnerships with both Institutes of Technology offer unique progression arrangements for students who graduate from courses at Carlow Institute of Further Education and Training.

Institute of Technology Carlow is a long-standing and valued partner of Carlow Institute of Further Education and Training. Our agreement with Institute of Technology Carlow allows graduates from Carlow Institute, who apply through CAO to Institute of Technology Carlow and who meet required entry criteria, to access Round Zero Offers. We also have Advanced Entry agreements where our Level 6 graduates can access direct entry to Year 2 of certain degree programmes. Carlow Institute of Further Education and Training has a progression agreement with Waterford Institute of Technology. Our students can benefit from reserved places on a wide range of linked programmes at Waterford Institute of Technology, and can take advantage of Round Zero Offers in many instances. Carlow College provides opportunities for Carlow Institute students to achieve B.A. (Honours) degrees in Applied Social Studies (Social Care), Humanities, English, History, Citizenship and Community Studies, in a supportive learning environment and a friendly campus in the centre of the town.

Gateway Programme with Carlow College

We have a jointly-developed Gateway Programme delivered in partnership Carlow College. It is designed to provide students with an opportunity to experience Higher Education while studying with us. Carlow Institute students studying for a Level 5 course can apply to participate in the Gateway Programme. If you are successful in your application, you participate in a range of lectures at Carlow College, giving you a chance to experience college life whilst at the Institute. Students tell us that participating in the Gateway Programme is a really positive experience, and boosts their confidence to progress to Higher Education after their time with us. VISUAL Carlow is strategic partner for Creative and Performing Arts students. VISUAL Carlow is a dynamic multidisciplinary arts centre presenting local, national, and international work in the visual and performing arts. The centre comprises over 3000m2 of world-standard gallery space, and a 290-seat performance theatre.

VISUAL Carlow has a highly creative programming approach that features outstanding international work, and seeks opportunities to support and connect national, regional and local work in its environment of excellence.
